As @SallyQYates pointed out, the fact that FBI planned to close the Flynn case and then interviewed him is not some smoking gun. They interviewed him because in the meantime, THEY LEARNED ABOUT HIS CALLS WITH RUSSIA!!! To ignore those calls would have been a dereliction of duty.
