The fake uranium claim is so wrong it needs a couple of tweets, but I will make this thread short:— Morten Øverbye (@morten) October 19, 2017
- Russia's atomic energy agency (Rosatom) purchased a majority stake in a Canadian company called Uranium One.
- The purchase had to be approved, not by Hillary Clinton, but by nine govt agencies. The state dept was one of those nine agencies.
- Uranium One accounted for about 20% of U.S. uranium production capacity. Production capacity is different from the total stock of uranium.
- The uranium stocks in the U.S. owned by Uranium One still remains in the U.S. and has not been moved to Russia.
- The uranium is still under the same control as it always has been. Uranium One still operates under the same laws and export restrictions.
- And, as a sidenote: If you want stronger sanctions and regulations for deals with Russia, how about implementing the sanctions bill?
- You signed it in August. The implementation deadline was Oct. 1. Why are the sanctions not yet in place?
