THREAD: It sometimes appears that Epstein is being framed for all time as an especially bad #MeToo case. No. Epstein died awaiting trial on human trafficking—the modern-day slave trade. In court docs, woman after woman describes herself as having been enslaved to him.

Labor trafficking and slavery is more prevalent; it's used, as usual, mostly by people in agriculture—let's call them plantation owners—to save money. Sex trafficking and slavery is much, much more lucrative. It's used by oligarchs like Epstein: to make money.

The #MeToo
movement is serious. But it began with middle-class women, mostly white & over 18. The vast majority of women have faced some kind of harassment, abuse or assault under the #MeToo
rubric. But 24.9 million victims, many children, are trapped in modern-day slavery.
