    2/ Pence is implicated in . He was Manafort's choice for VP. He was the head of the transition team -- a time of peak treason season -- and thus oversaw all the shady goings-on. He worked closely with the flipped Rick Gates.

    5/ He retained a very good law firm, a year or so ago -- long before any of the other Trumpists. So he knew that something might bubble up eventually. He's also removed himself from the inner dealings as much as possible.

    7/ Strategically, it makes sense for Mueller to do it. Pence cannot ever be president, as you don't replace a guy up to his eyeballs in treason with one only up to his waist. So he has to be removed before Trump.
